Drexel could impress tourney officials with win tonight

The BracketBusters concept was designed to give teams from the smaller conferences a chance to impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee in the final weeks of the regular season. It has evolved into something a bit different from that, but it does give the little guys one more game against a team from another conference and gives ESPN exposure to programs would not get it any other way.

There are 57 games today and tomorrow, with teams from 14 conferences. Eleven of those games are on some form of ESPN, including Drexel's home game with Kent State at 9 o'clock tonight on ESPNU.

Given how the season has played out, few committee minds will be swayed by these games. Still, a few teams could leave a positive or negative impression.

VCU is at Wichita State today. Each team is alive for a bid. The result could be a factor.

Utah State at St. Mary's tomorrow will be very interesting. Utah State can use a good road win. This would qualify.

Tomorrow's better TV games include George Mason at Northern Iowa, Hofstra at Wright State, Missouri State at Valparaiso and Vermont at Charleston. Cleveland State is at Old Dominion on Sunday. Most of these teams are at or near the top of their leagues. A win could impact at-large chances and/or seeding. *
