La Salle beats Charlotte, 2-0, to advances to A-10 women's soccer semis

La Salle on Thursday advanced to Friday's Atlantic Ten women's soccer tournament semifinal with a 2-0 win over eighth-seeded Charlotte in South Kingstown, R.I.

The top-seeded Explorers next play No. 4 seed Butler, 1-0 winners Thursday over No. 5 St. Bonaventure.

Field hockey. Temple sophomore Amber Youtz was named the A-10 field hockey offensive player of the year, and Massachusetts' Lauren Allymohamed was named defensive player of the year by conference coaches. Richmond's Taylor Deitrick was rookie of the year, and Massachusetts' Carla Tagliente was coach of the year.
