Peterson decides to stay at La Salle

After contemplating transfer closer to his Minnnesota home, the sophomore guard decided to remain with the Explorers.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW, La Salle sophomore guard D.J. Peterson will not be transferring.

Peterson, who hails from Burnsville, Minn., this week had announced that he would be switching schools in order to be closer to his family. On Friday, the school announced that Peterson would remain at 20th & Olney.

"It is hard for a young person to be pulled in two different directions," La Salle coach John Giannini said in a statement. "I respect that D.J. has had to make a difficult personal decision. Our recent success is largely due to our chemistry and family atmosphere. We would support any decisions D.J. makes for his future and we are happy that we will continue to be a part of our team."

Peterson averaged 3.9 points in almost 25 minutes of play for the Explorers, who made it to the Sweet 16 in March. La Salle will lose star senior guard Ramon Galloway, but return the rest of its rotation.

The Explorers also have added Delaware transfer guard Khalid Lewis, freshmen guard Amar Stukes (La Salle High) and forward/center Tony Washington, out of the Miller School in Charlottesville, Va.
