WHEN YOU watch La Salle senior point guard Tyreek Duren play this season, it is clear he does not have his usual quickness. And there is a reason. He got plantar fasciitis in May and has been playing with the painful foot condition in the first nine games.

"It's one of those mysterious injuries," La Salle coach John Giannini said. "Nobody really knows how it gets there and nobody really knows when it's going to end."

The coach is hopeful that the inflammation will be more manageable with medication. Right now, it is hard for Duren to go 2 days in a row. The Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands did not help him, with the three games in 4 days.

Duren is averaging 13.6 points, but is shooting just 37.8 percent overall and 22.2 percent from the arc (8-for-36).

La Salle next plays at No. 10-ranked Villanova on Sunday. The Explorers' last game was on Saturday, giving Duren 7 days between games.
