Penn basketball loses to Towson in Florida tournament

The Quakers will play Missouri-Kansas City at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a consolation game.

Penn's three-game winning streak ended Tuesday night with a 79-71 loss to Towson in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.

Ryan Betley, a sophomore from Downingtown West, led Penn with a season-high 25 points. on 8 for 12 shooting (4 of 7 from beyond the arc). Darnell Foreman (Pitman High) chipped in 16 and AJ Brodeur added 12. Towson (4-1) took the lead with five minutes left in the first half and held it for the rest of the game. Mike Morsell had 18 points for the Tigers.

Penn (3-3) will play Missouri-Kansas City at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a consolation game. Towson will play Georgia Southern for the tournament championship.
