Marial Shayok, G, 6-6, Fr., 3.6, 1.9, 40.0, 56.3

About the Cavaliers: It's easier to negotiate I-95 at 4:30 than to crack Virginia's defense, which through the regular season allowed 50.3 points, tops in the nation ... The Cavaliers are the only school that has been a top seed the last 2 years. Arizona, Florida and Wichita State were the other 1-seeds in 2014 ... Anderson (48% on triples), who hadn't played since Feb. 7 because of a fractured finger and then an appendectomy, played in the ACC Tournament ... UVa beat Rutgers in November, 45-26. They also held Georgia Tech (28) and Harvard (27) under 30 ... Brogdon mentors fifth-graders at a nearby school. He's enrolled in UVa's prestigious Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. About the Sooners: Haven't advanced past the round of 64 since an Elite Eight appearance in 2009 that came under previous coach Jeff Capel ... Hield has increased his points per game and rebound averages each year as a Sooner, turning into Oklahoma's main offensive threat. He led the conference in scoring ... Entering the Big 12 Tournament, Hield had taken 213 three-point shots (shooting 38%) and 214 two-pointers ... Cousins launches about half as many bombs as Hield, but he nails 'em at 45.3% ... Mangok Mathiang , C, 6-10, So., 2.6, 4.6, 38.8, 51.1

About the Cardinals: Blackshear and Harrell are the last two active Cardinals who played in the championship game win 2 years ago ... No one is deadly from the arc; Rozier and Blackshear are at 32% ... Harrell may not be as proficient as Rick Barry at the line, but he has improved from the 46% he made a year ago ... Guard Chris Jones (13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds) was leading the team in assists (3.6) before he was kicked off the team in February. Louisville is 4-1 without him. Last year, Pitino tossed forward Chane Behanan, also for misconduct ... Have combined for over 400 steals/block shots; opponents are under 300 ... Shot just 43.1% during the regular season ... About the Friars: First back-to-back 20-win seasons since 1993-94 ... Henton is one of 15 finalists for the Julius Erving Award, given to the top small forward in Division I. He is the second Friar to get 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, joining Ryan Gomes (2001-05), and owns the program record for games, starts and minutes ... Dunn, who missed most of last season with a shoulder injury, had a triple-double in late January (27 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists), the first for a Friar since 2006 (Geoff McDermott). Lourawls Nairn Jr., G, 5-10, Fr., 2.2, 1.5, 34.2, 51.6

About the Spartans: Unlike recent editions, this is not a roster with future NBA players. Trice and Valentine are program guys who have gotten better, but will never be stars ... Terrific from the arc (39%) and terrible from the free-throw line (63%). Valentine (42%) and Forbes (43%) are the snipers ... Dawson led the Big Ten in rebounding, but has never lived up to the recruiting hype ... Lost only three marquee non-conference games to Duke, Kansas and Notre Dame ... Have registered 200 more assists than their opponets ... After starting just 6-4 in the league, won six of their last eight ... About the Fightin' Tigers: Hornsby, the son of Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby, is a transfer from UNC-Asheville. "Every time I see him in concert, it's reassuring — how talented he is and how hard he still works at it," Keith Hornsby told the Charlotte Observer. "I want to be like that" ... UW has finished in the top 25 in scoring defense the last 3 years ... Nance, the MW's co-defensive player of the year, missed four games due to mononucleosis. The Cowboys struggled during his absence and also upon his return when he was trying to regain his stamina. Nance and the Pokes appear to be at full strength ... UW will be wearing an MM patch, honoring the loss of graduate Mick McMurry, a philanthropist and major contributor to the athletic program ... Shyatt has reached 100 wins quicker than any other coach in UW history

About the Great Danes: Hard to believe it has been 9 years since they hung late with second-ranked Connecticut in a first-round NCAA game at what is now the Wells Fargo Center ... Hooley's three off an offensive rebound to win the conference title over Stony Brook was their first triple of the game. They had been 0-for-9 ... Hooley, a native of Australia, missed a handful of games to fly home and tend to his ailing mother, who eventually succumbed to cancer ... The Rowley brothers are also from Australia ... A loss to Bucknell on Dec. 8 left them at 2-6. They are 22-2 since then. (BV)

They have been in eight OVC finals and won seven of them ... Bradshaw, Bradds and Smith are all at 40% or better from the arc ... Smith is perfect from the foul line, but has just 14 attempts in 463 minutes. He was 11-for-14 as a freshman ... About the Leopards: O'Hanlon, a product of St. Thomas More High, still holds the Villanova school record for single-game assists (16, Feb. 24, 1970, vs. Toledo). He served as an assistant under Fran Dunphy at Penn for six seasons ... Lindner (5.4 assists per game) played four seasons at Germantown Academy ... Trist hails from Australia ... Shoot 41% from the arc as a team. There are 75 Division I schools that don't shoot that well OVERALL ... Although there is a usual eight-man rotation, the five starters logged 199 of the 200 minutes in the conference-title victory over American. All five scored in double figures ... Only three non-conference losses were to Yale, West Virginia and Kansas. (BV)
