Women's College Basketball: Drexel women rally to top Penn

The Drexel women rallied with a 17-0 second-half run Saturday to defeat Penn, 67-58, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel (5-4) shot 52.3 percent from the floor. Three Dragons were double-digit scorers: Jackie Schluth (18 points), Sarah Curran (16), and Carrie Alexander (15).

The win was the 199th for coach Denise Dillon.

Kathleen Roche paced Penn (4-4) with 17 points.

La Salle 75, Georgia State 68 - The Explorers (7-4) closed with a 13-5 run that broke a tie with the Panthers (5-4) in the final of the GSU Holiday and Hoops Classic in Atlanta.

Micahya Owens (Willingboro) had 20 points, and Indigo Dickens added 12. Owens and rookie Amy Griffin were named to the all-Classic team.

U. of Sciences 80, Georgian Court 48 - Jessica Sylvester (Nazareth Academy) became the Devils' all-time three-point field-goal leader in the home win, breaking the mark of 203 set by Jeanine Jones from 1999 to 2003. She finished with two threes, 205 for her career. The Devils are 6-4, 4-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference; the Lions are 0-10, 0-6.

Sacred Heart 72, Villanova 49 - Emily Leer (Abington) netted 12 points for the Wildcats (3-7) in the home loss to the Pioneers (5-5) at the Pavilion.

West Chester 91, Clarion 68 - Dallas Ely scored a team-high 21 points for the Golden Rams (9-1, 6-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) in a win over the visiting Golden Eagles (1-9, 0-6).

Adelphi 80, Holy Family 70 - Erin Fenningham (St. Basil) and Kasey Woetzel scored 18 points apiece in Garden City, N.Y., but the Tigers (6-6) fell to the host Panthers (11-0).

South Carolina 80, Central Michigan 45 - Tiffany Mitchell scored 18 points despite taking a hit and suffering a bloody nose, and the No. 1 Gamecocks (11-0) routed the Chippewas (4-4) in the Minnesota Subway Classic in Minneapolis. They face Liberty on Sunday in the tourney final.
