Sophomore Ryan Betley picked up his second double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds Monday as Penn beat Howard, 81-68, in a nonleague game in Washington.
Penn senior Caleb Wood knocked down six three-pointers and finished with a season-high 26 points.
The Quakers won for the sixth time in the last eight games and improved to 6-4. Howard fell to 1-8.
Penn reached the 80-point mark for the fourth time in the last seven games. Steve Donahue's team pulled away from a 32-28 halftime lead.
Quakers sophomore AJ Brodeur contributed nine and a season-best 10 rebounds.
For Howard, R.J. Cole finished with 24 points, C.J. Williams added 20, and Zion Cousins had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Penn will play its second game in three nights Wednesday at Lafayette.
