Pennsbury offensive lineman J.J. Denman gave an oral commitment to Penn State last night, the eighth player to join the Nittany Lions' recruiting class for 2012.

"The coaching staff, first of all, they're great," Denman told Blue White Illustrated. "Big Ten football, obviously that's pretty good. Penn State has a lot of sports, they have a good athletic program and just being in Pennsylvania, playing for Penn State is a big deal. I also know a bunch of my friends are going to go there, so that's also a plus."

Denman is 6-7 and 305 and figures to get a chance to play early in his career, something he said was a factor in his decision. He is projected as tackle and is the third offensive lineman to commit to Penn State.

Denman was on campus for an unofficial visit last weekend.

Scout.com has Denman ranked as the 18th-best offensive tackle prospect in the country. *
