Ex-Lion confronts NCAA chief

Police in Los Angeles were called Wednesday after Penn State great Franco Harris and filmmaker John Ziegler confronted NCAA president Mark Emmert about Joe Paterno's firing during the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Police in Los Angeles were called Wednesday after Penn State great Franco Harris and filmmaker John Ziegler confronted NCAA president Mark Emmert about Joe Paterno's firing during the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

During a question-and-answer session, Harris asked Emmert, who had been addressing the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce about academics in the student-athlete model, about Paterno's treatment. Ziegler said right away NCAA officials asked him to stop recording, and police were called.

Ziegler said he and Harris had left by the time police arrived.

3 from Rutgers honored

Three Rutgers players received national honors.

All-American linebacker Khaseem Greene, the Big East defensive player of the year for the second straight year, will play in the Senior Bowl.

Junior cornerback Logan Ryan (Eastern High, Voorhees) has been named to Pro Football Weekly's 2012 all-American first team.

Senior defensive tackle Scott Vallone, an all-Big East first-team selection, will play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game.
