A little more than a month after former Phillies ace Roy Halladay's death, his son Braden is putting new family roots down in Pennsylvania.

Braden Halladay announced Saturday that he has committed to play baseball at Penn State.

Braden has been a pitcher, and sometimes an outfielder, at Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater, Fla. He's a junior now, and will graduate in 2019.

During his sophomore season, the righthander recorded a 2.10 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings. Baseball America ranked Calvary Christian as the No. 4 high school team in the nation in May 2017.

The Halladay family had made Clearwater its home after Roy finished playing in 2013. He had been a guest instructor for the Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays, and this past March, the Phillies hired him to be a mental skills coach for prospects.
