The Hawks (6-3, 2-0 Big 5) scored 35 second-half points after the teams combined for just 23 points on 10-for-46 shooting in the first half (12-11 Villanova lead). Villanova (5-5, 1-1) scored the game's first seven points, but the Hawks opened the game's largest lead at 42-31 with just over 5 minutes to play in the second half.

Laura Sweeney then scored Villanova's next 10 points and a basket by Devon Kane brought the Wildcats to within 44-43 with 28 seconds to play, setting up Van Grinsven's clutch shot.

Sweeney finished with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Michelle Baker had 15 points, Katie Kuester 12 and Van Grinsven 10 for St. Joe's.

* At Drexel, Kamile Nacickaite's 15 points led four double-figure scorers as the Dragons (6-1) routed Seton Hall (5-6), 66-43. Jasmina Rosseel scored 14 points and Tyler Hale and Hollie Mershon 12 each. Drexel led by 38-19 at halftime.
