Temple's Al Golden is among the football coaches whose names have surfaced regarding the vacant job at the University of Cincinnati, according to ESPN.com. Former Bearcats coach Brian Kelly has just accepted the head coaching job at Notre Dame.

Among other coaching names that have been connected to the Cincinnati position are Houston's Kevin Sumlin, Central Michigan's Butch Jones, and East Carolina's Skip Holtz, according to ESPN.com.

Examiner.com - citing ESPN.com - reported that Golden and Sumlin will be interviewed.

Golden guided the Owls to a stunning turnaround, leading the team to a 9-3 finish this year and earning a trip to the EagleBank Bowl against either UCLA or Army on Dec. 29 at Washington's RFK Stadium. The Owls are going to their first bowl since 1979, after completing their first winning season since 1990.

Golden took over the chronically losing Temple football program in 2006, and went 1-11 in his first year. The Owls improved to 4-8 in 2007, and 5-7 last year before making the winning run this season.
