I don't envy Golden's successor. Temple finishes 8-4 and still can't get to a bowl. That's because those Owls fans inclined to travel to a bowl game - and I speak as an alum - couldn't fill a plane let alone a stadium. The Golden era is over. Time to return to another aluminum one.

I'm a little more optimistic. Golden was a solid recruiter. It has to be easier to get kids to go to Temple now than ever before.

It's true. I'm amazed at how many of the children of suburban parents who were afraid to venture within a mile of Temple's campus now attend the school - and live in the neighborhood. Not so sure about the recruiting. How does a kid get past the fact that you can finish 8-4 and get snubbed by the bowls?

It'll be interesting to see whom they hire, particularly if they hire from within Golden's staff. That would help, at least a little, with continuity.
What also would help is a bigger weight room and an on-campus stadium, but those are bigger fixes that we're not likely to see anytime soon.
