Temple makes move to fill punter void

Temple football coach Steve Addazio has landed two recruits, one of whom might help fill an immediate need. Sources have confirmed an OwlScoop.com report that Nick Holland, a punter from Brookfield (Wis.) High School, has accepted a scholarship offer to become a late addition to the 2011 class.

That's significant because the Owls didn't have a punter on their roster during spring practice, which meant placekicker Brandon McManus was pulling double duty. Redshirt freshman Andrew Cerett, who had been projected to succeed the graduated Jeff Wathne, was suspended. While he remains enrolled at the university, it appears unlikely that he'll return to the program.

Addazio also got his first verbal commitment for 2012, in quarterback Benjamin Onett.

The 6-3, 210-pound Onett played for DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) last season, but is now enrolled at St. John's College High in Washington, D.C.

"I can't wait," Onett told Rivals.com. "If I do well [freshman year] I think that I will have the opportunity to compete for a starting position by my sophomore season. It's going to be very exciting."
