WEST POINT, N.Y. - Temple coach Steve Addazio was pleased with Juice Granger's first career start at quarterback.

The redshirt junior rushed for 85 yards on nine carries. He also completed 2 of 4 passes for 31 yards in the Owls' 63-32 victory over Army on Saturday at Michie Stadium.

"I thought he managed the offense really well," Addazio said of Granger, who replaced Chris Coyer as the starter. "He made some critical runs. We really didn't give him a chance to throw the ball. . . . He kind of went out there and handled stuff."

Both of Granger's completions were huge plays for the Owls (4-6).

On the third play of the game, Temple faced third and 8 from its 27-yard line. Granger zipped the ball between two defenders to Jalen Fitzpatrick for an 11-yard gain.

"That was probably pretty big in the big scheme of things," Addazio said, "because we kept the chains moving and we scored on that."

Late in the second quarter, the Owls had third and 11 from the Army 21. Granger completed a 20-yard pass to Kenny Harper. Montel Harris scored from 1 yard out on the next play.

"It felt pretty good to be out there," the George Washington High product said. "It felt good to be a leader and lead my team to a victory."

McManus sets record

Temple placekicker Brandon McManus converted nine extra points to become the Owls' career scoring leader with 330 points. Former Temple running back Bernard Pierce had held the record with 324.

Brown done?

Temple tailback/kick returner Matt Brown may not be ready to play in Friday's home finale vs. Syracuse. The senior felt his left hamstring pop on a punt return in the second quarter.
