Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton and former Florida International coach Mario Cristobal had interviews with Temple over the weekend regarding the Owls' football coaching position, according to a source with knowledge of the talks.

Temple is seeking a replacement for Steve Addazio, who left Tuesday to take the coaching job at Boston College.

According to the source, Cristobal was interviewed Saturday night. The source confirmed a Sports Illustrated report that Drayton was interviewed Sunday.

Temple will interview another candidate Monday. There were reports that Eagles defensive coordinator Todd Bowles or Miami defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio could be interviewed.

Florida International fired Cristobal last week after a 3-9 season. He led FIU to its first two bowl games in 2010 and 2011.

Drayton is recognized as a great recruiter. He has ties to the Philadelphia area as a former Villanova assistant.

Punter commits. Albany University punter Paul Layton, who has one season of eligibility left, will transfer to Temple. He will receive a degree from Albany next weekend and begin taking graduate courses at Temple next month. He will be granted immediate eligibility as a graduate student.
