Temple senior point guard Will Cummings has accepted an invitation to play in the Portsmouth Invitational, featuring 64 college seniors competing from April 8-11 in Portsmouth, Va.

The rosters are mainly composed of players generally not expected to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft.

Over the years, a number of gems have been discovered at Portsmouth, including Chicago Bulls all-star Jimmy Butler, who was the 30th and final pick in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Marquette.

"It's cool, definitely a great experience," Cummings said after practice Friday.

Cummings said his main concern at the moment is the NIT semifinals in New York. Temple (26-10) will meet Miami (24-12) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.

"Obviously, I am thinking of the NIT, but it's a great honor to be invited to Portsmouth," Cummings said.

Cummings averages 14.9 points and 4.2 assists. In Temple's three NIT wins, he is averaging 22 points.
