Owls step up recruitment of Savon Goodman

Constitution High coach Rob Moore and assistant coach Dave Elliott are now scheduled to meet with Temple as early as Thursday to discuss the recruitment of Generals forward Savon Goodman, according to multiple sources.

The meeting was orginally scheduled for Wednesday night, but was postponed due to a scheduling conflict, according to one of the sources.

Goodman will not attend the meeting.

One source said the Temple wants to meet with the coaches to ask questions about Goodman. They want to know about his personality and what type of person the 6-foot-6 senior is. According to another source, the Owls are expected to offer Goodman a scholarship. Temple also wants to know the likelihood of Goodman accepting the Owls' offer, the source added.

As of Monday, there was thought that Goodman would attend prep school next year even though he meets the necessary NCAA academic standards for freshman eligibility. He wanted to spend the year working on his outside shooting.

Goodman, who transferred from the Academy of the New Church last summer, averaged 25.8 points, 14.2 rebounds, two blocks and two steals en route to leading Constitution to the PIAA Class A state title.

In addition to Temple, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Memphis, Pitt, UNLV and UCLA are believed to be possible destinations.

Goodman backed out of an oral commitment to play at Villanova in August.
