Rhule hires Noble, Satterfield as assistants
New Temple football coach Matt Rhule has hired former Penn State standout defensive lineman Brandon Noble and Tennessee-Chattanooga offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield to his coaching staff.
New Temple football coach Matt Rhule has hired former Penn State standout defensive lineman Brandon Noble and Tennessee-Chattanooga offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield to his coaching staff.
Noble, who was a college teammate of Rhule, will be the Owls' defensive line coach, while Satterfield will serve as a yet-to-be-determined offensive assistant. There are reports that Rhule is interested in hiring Nevada offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Nick Rolovich as his offensive coordinator.
Noble spent this past season as Coastal Carolina's defensive line/special teams' coach. Prior to that, the Virginia native spent a season as the defensive line coach of the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. He also coached linebackers and the defensive line at West Chester from 2006-08 and 2010.
Noble also brings seven years of NFL playing experience with stints with the Dallas Cowboys (1999-2002) and Washington Redskins (2003-05). He also spent two years (1997-98) on the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad.
Satterfield coached with Rhule at Western Carolina in 2005. He spent the past four seasons at Tennessee-Chattanooga. In 2010, the Mocs ranked 11th in the Football Championship Subdivision in total offense (4,730 yards). Before heading to UT-Chattanooga, he was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee-Martin for three seasons. Satterfield played wideout and punter at East Tennessee State from 1995-98.
