All indications are that Matt Rhule will be the next football coach at Temple.

Sources very familiar with the situation have confirmed that the former Owls assistant has been offered the job. And unless there is a breakdown in negotiations, which seems highly unlikely, he will probably be introduced at a press conference on Monday.

Rhule spent six seasons on North Broad Street under Al Golden and Steve Addazio, as an offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. Addazio left 10 days ago to take the job at Boston College. Rhule left last offseason to become an assistant line coach with the New York Giants, who obviously have a game Sunday.

Rhule had a second interview for the job on Thursday.

The other finalist was believed to be former Temple defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio, who spent the last two seasons with Golden in Miami. He was offered the job two years ago but turned it down to stay with Golden. Rhule almost got the job at that time, but Temple instead went with the former Florida assistant who had two national title rings.

This will be a popular choice among many in the Temple community. Rhule was responsible for recruiting a lot of these players, some of whom will be playing for their third coach in four seasons. Rhule's wife still works at Temple.
