Temple's Josh Brown happy to tie a school record and extend his career

ORLANDO — This is one record that Temple redshirt senior point guard Josh Brown will be happy to own, simply because it means he will be extending his career.

Brown tied Lynn Greer for the all-time Temple record for games played when he appeared in his 137^th during Thursday's 82-77 first round American Athletic Conference Tournament win over Tulane at the Amway Center.

Now Brown will own the record himself when he appears in Friday's quarterfinal against No. 2 seeded Wichita State (7 p.m. ESPNU).

Anybody who knows Brown, understands that records are the least of his concerns, but this one shows that how much he has meant to the team during his career.

"I have had tried to the best of my ability to take advantage of the opportunities that Temple University has given me and I am playing for this coaching staff, playing for these players I have played with down the years and it has been great, a humbling experience," said Brown, who had 15 points, six rebounds and three assists with just one turnover in 36 minutes. "I have been blessed and can't ask for any more in my college career."

Brown got to play five games last season before earning a medical redshirt because of a sore Achilles tendon. He had torn the Achilles in May of 2016, and after giving it a try, realized he wasn't ready for the rigors of a full college season.

Greer, also received a medical redshirt. He played six games as sophomore in 1998-99 before sitting out due to injury.

Brown admitted this record is extra special.

"Definitely, knowing now I was good enough to play on the court in x amount of games," said Brown, who has earned his degree in criminal justice. "This is definitely a good thing for me."

With his three assists, Brown also moved into the Top 10 of Temple's all-time list. He is now 10^th with 382, passing Mik Kilgore, who had 380.
