Taver Johnson, who served as Temple's defensive coordinator last year and was recently named assistant head coach defense/co-defensive coordinator/safeties, is set to be named an assistant coach at Ohio State. Footballscoop.com reported that he would be named cornerbacks coach.

A source at Temple said Monday night that nothing concerning Johnson could be confirmed but that Ohio State would likely be announcing the move on Tuesday. Johnson is no longer listed in Temple's coaching directory.

Last month, Temple promoted linebackers coach Andrew Thacker to defensive coordinator/linebackers, and Johnson was given his new titles.

Johnson called the defense for Temple last season, his first under head coach Geoff Collins. The Owls did not say who would call the defensive signals when the moves were made last month, but it likely will now be the 32-year-old Thacker, who is considered a rising young coach.

A Cincinnati native, Johnson is returning to Ohio State after serving as the Buckeyes' defensive backs coach from 2007-10.

The Owls went 7-6 last season will begin spring football on March 13.
