Andy Talley is still reaping the benefits of leading Villanova to the Football Championship Subdivision's national title.

On Tuesday, the Wildcats coach was named the 2009 American Football Coaches Association FCS national coach of the year. Talley also won the award in 1997.

The Wildcats capped their best season during their coach's 25-year tenure by defeating Montana, 23-21, in last month's national championship game in Chattanooga.

In the process, Villanova (14-1) extended the single-season victory mark it set the week before in the FCS semifinal victory over William and Mary. Along the way, the Wildcats claimed a share of the Colonial Athletic Association title and ended the season with nine consecutive victories.
