Two local players invited to basketball camp

Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono and Chester High School's Rondaé Hollis-Jefferson are among the 24 players who have accepted invitations to the 2013 USA Basketball men's under-19 World Championship team training camp June 14-19 at the U.S. Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The team will be coached by Florida coach Billy Donovan, Virginia's Tony Bennett, and Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth University.

St. Joseph's will be one of 16 teams in the 2013 Preseason Women's National Invitation tournament. The 20th annual tournament will take place from Nov. 8 to Nov. 17, with all games being hosted by participating schools.

Baseball. Sophomore pitcher Tommy Bergjans of Haverford College was named to the second-team D3baseball.com all-American squad.

The righthander has been named the Centennial Conference's pitcher of the year as well as a first-team all-conference player, and on Monday D3baseball.com picked Bergjans for first-team all-Mid-Atlantic region honors.

Lacrosse. Former Penn State standout and four-time all-American Michele DeJuliis has been elected to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

A 1997 graduate, DeJuliis will become the Hall's eighth member from Penn State. A four-time all-American, DeJuliis helped lead the Nittany Lions to three NCAA tournaments and a national semifinal appearance during the 1995 season.

Track and field. The United States Track and Field Cross-Country Coaches Association has named Bloomsburg University's Vicki Davis, Katie Filemyr, Kelsey Davis, and Tayler Harkins all-region for the 2013 season. Jack Rosenstein, Matt Stuck, and Justin Shirk were the men's honorees.
