College Basketball: Villanova women edge Temple

Villanova edged Temple, 59-58, in Big Five women's basketball Sunday afternoon at McGonigle Hall. Caroline Coyer led Villanova (9-1, 2-1) with 19 points off the bench. Freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald led Temple (6-4, 1-2) with 23 points.

Holy Family 72, Sciences 61 - The Tigers (5-5, 3-0) stayed perfect in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference conference as they defeated the Devils (9-3, 4-1) at home.

College of St. Rose 54, Chestnut Hill 47 - A late rally fell short as the Griffins lost to the Golden Knights in the Holiday Classic in Albany, N.Y. Junior Shayla Felder (Cheltenham) ignited the Griffins (1-9) in the second half.

Men

Connecticut 82, Washington 70 - Shabazz Napier scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half and grabbed six rebounds to lead the No. 10 Huskies (10-1) over Washington (6-5) in Seattle.

Rutgers, 75, Army 72 - Myles Mack hit a three-pointer with 3.5 seconds left to lead the Scarlet Knights (6-7) over the Black Knights (3-7) in Piscataway, N.J.

Holy Family 67, LeMoyne 65 - The Tigers (8-4) forced two turnovers in the final nine seconds for the home win in a nonconference game.

Colgate 78, Ursinus 52 - The Red Raiders (6-4) beat the Bears (1-8) in Hamilton, N.Y., despite 18 points by the Bears' Ryan Adams.

Penn State 92, Mount St. Mary's 82 - The Nittany Lions (9-4) rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit for the win in State College, Pa.
