Tomorrow

North Carolina at Rutgers, 8 p.m.

The Scarlet Knights are 7-3 with losses to Florida, St. Peter's and Nebraska. The top-ranked Tar Heels will be heavily favored in their next six games before going to Clemson on Jan. 6 for their ACC opener.

Wednesday

La Salle vs. Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in San Juan, 3 p.m.

The 3-4 Explorers face the local Division II team, then play Mississippi (8-0) on Friday and DePaul (2-4) next Saturday in San Juan. Darnell Harris leads the Explorers with 17 points a game after 25-point efforts in La Salle's last two games, losses at Bucknell and Morgan State.

Thursday

Duke vs. Pittsburgh in New York, 7 p.m.

The toughest early-season test for both schools. Pitt's Sam Young is averaging 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds, up from 7.2 and 3.0 as a sophomore.

Elon at Penn, 7 p.m.

Going into this weekend, Elon is 4-4, with losses to Virginia Tech, Georgia, VCU and Division II Tusculum.
