WHO: Michael O'Hara, Mantua, N.J.
WHAT: A bedcheck sheet signed by 37 members of the 1947 NFL champion Eagles, including head coach Earle "Greasy" Neale, Steve Van Buren, Vic Sears, Bucko Kilroy, Tommy Thompson and Pete Pihos. On one side of the sheet are the typewritten names of the coaches and players. On the other side are their signatures. Half the signatures are in black ink, half are in pencil. Van Buren signed it again at a later date.
CONDITION: Other than some aging, there is a chalk-like circular stain the center of the page, which has a fold.
HOW IT WAS ACQUIRED: "It was given to me by my grandfather, William O'Hara, when I was 12 years old. He was a carpenter and lived in Montrose, Pa. He told me he had gotten it at a yard sale. When he found it, it was in a frame, which I still have it in. I used to have it displayed, but since I sold my house, I have kept it away in a shoebox."
WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS WORTH: "To me, it's priceless. My grandfather passed away in 1996, and my father just passed away 2 years ago. It's an item that connects me to them. It's a piece that when I look at it, I remember my grandfather and I remember my father. But if I had to guess, given the rarity of it, it would be worth $5,000 to $10,000. Even so, I don't think I could let it go."
WHAT THE EXPERT SAYS: "Very interesting and likely unique piece relating to a legendary Eagles team. The medium is a bit unusual, which is good and bad as while it is unique and, as such, attractive to some buyers … many buyers would prefer a standardized piece such as a ball or photo."
ESTIMATED VALUE: $2,000-$3,000.
