Eagles Notes: Ailing Vick termed questionable

Once again, backup quarterback Michael Vick missed practice yesterday. And the quadriceps bruise he suffered last week against San Francisco could keep him from playing tomorrow.

"I can't do what I like to do," Vick said.

That, ostensibly, is run - which Vick has not done yet this week, he said. He was injured in the second quarter of the 27-13 victory.

Vick was listed as questionable for tomorrow's game.

"We're still working with him to see if he can come around and be able to give us something on Sunday," head coach Andy Reid said.

Vick said that although his quadriceps was better, it had not improved in the last few days.

Kevin Kolb, who has been the third quarterback for much of the season after starting in Weeks 2 and 3 when Donovan McNabb was hurt, will likely be elevated to backup.

Reid was hopeful that Vick could overcome the soreness so he could be the third quarterback if needed.

"That's what I'm working toward," Vick said.

Not optimistic. Wide receiver Kevin Curtis says he isn't 100 percent, but he was well enough to return to the lineup last week, albeit in a limited role.

He made one catch for 7 yards in his first action since Week 2, while filling in for an injured Jeremy Maclin. Curtis returned after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in October.

Maclin is now healthy, and the Eagles could activate five wide receivers for the first time since the season opener. And Curtis doesn't expect his small role to change.

Reid said he was still debating whether to have five wide receivers activated.

"That's a good position to be in, especially with the quality of guys that we have," he said.

Curtis could be the odd man out. With Brian Westbrook returning, the Eagles must free another spot. While Eldra Buckley would be the fourth running back, he has yet to be inactive this season because of his play on special teams.

Broncos' Royal out. Eddie Royal, a wide receiver and return specialist, will not play tomorrow.

Royal missed every practice this week with neck and hand injuries. He was absent from Friday's indoor workout.

Royal had three catches for 28 yards last week in the Broncos' loss to Oakland, and has 37 receptions for 345 yards this season.

Denver will also miss Royal on special teams. He has returned both a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns this season.

Spencer Larsen, a special-teams player and backup inside linebacker, has a hamstring injury and also won't play.

Demps leaves practice. The only Eagle besides Vick who did not fully participate in practice was safety Quintin Demps, who has been nursing a sprained ankle. Demps had to leave midway through yesterday's practice and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game.

If Demps cannot go, Macho Harris will return kicks.

Langford gone. Reshard Langford, a member of the Eagles' practice squad, received an early present on Christmas Eve. Kansas City signed the safety Thursday night and added him to its active roster.

Langford was the last remaining member of the eight-player practice squad from the beginning of the season. An Eagles spokesman said the team would not add another player to the practice squad until next week.
