Live from Lehigh: Come live with me and take a few snaps

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Mike McGlynn needed someone to snap to. But how many centers have a ready-made quarterback on call?

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Mike McGlynn needed someone to snap to.

But how many centers have a ready-made quarterback on call?

So in the off-season, the Eagles offensive linemen picked the person closest to him to take snap after snap after snap.

"I put my wife four yards back in the shotgun, and I made her catch them," McGlynn said Monday. "She looks at me and she just shakes her head: 'Really, do I have to do this?' "

And McGlynn's husbandly response to his wife, Megan, was?

"Yeah, it's part of my job."

The third-year pro went into the off-season knowing he was going to compete with Nick Cole for the open center spot vacated by the injured Jamaal Jackson.

But McGlynn has never played center competitively. He was a tackle and guard at Pittsburgh and played strictly at guard during his first two seasons with the Eagles.

The 25-year-old has yet to play a down in the pros.

He knew winning the center spot was probably his quickest route to starting. So McGlynn had his wife play quarterback Kevin Kolb in their living room - over and over.

"My wife hasn't played a lick of competitive sports ever," McGlynn said. "She's more of a cheerleader or a dance-team member."

Yeah, but is she better looking than Kolb?

"Oh, yeah," McGlynn said.

Air Vick

Michael Vick walked out of the locker room after the morning practice sporting a pair of Nike Air Jordan high-tops.

The Eagles quarterback was asked if the sneakers were of the vintage kind. Vick said he had worn Air Jordans only three times. Is that because he once had his own brand of Nike sneaks?

"No, I was always more of an Air Force One guy," Vick said.

Vick said he never wore his own brand, even though he designed the look, because they were too uncomfortable.

Even Vick couldn't wear his own shoes.

Movie stars

First, Eagles fans called wide receiver Riley Cooper "Sunshine" from the movie Remember the Titans.

Now they've taken to calling the smallish receiver Chad Hall "Rudy" from, well, Rudy.
