A look back at some of the best - and worst - of my preseason predictions:
Domo, you're a freaking genius
Going up: Raiders
Comment: Their 5-4 record is no joke. They probably are going to win the AFC West if they can continue to keep Al Davis sedated.
First-round hits: Lions DT Ndamukong Suh, Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey
Comment: Suh already is a difference-maker with 6 1/2 sacks. Pouncey, who stepped right in and anchored a veteran line, is being compared to seven-time Pro Bowler Dermontti Dawson.
Breakout year: Giants WR Hakeem Nicks, Texans RB Arian Foster, Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles
Comment: Nicks already has 51 catches and nine TDs. Foster leads the league in rushing and yards from scrimmage. Charles is sixth in the league in rushing and is averaging 6.4 yards per attempt. Am I good or what?
Underrated: Packers WR Greg Jennings, Ravens RB Ray Rice
Comment: Jennings has six TD catches, is averaging 14.1 yards per catch and has become Aaron Rodgers' go-to guy. Rice is a Brian Westbrook clone who's already got 842 yards from scrimmage.
Overrated: Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco, Cowboys RB Marion Barber
Comment: Ochocinco is playing second-fiddle to his reality-show bud Terrell Owens. Barber has basically become a short-yardage and goal-line guy for the 1-7 Cowboys.
Domo, you're a freaking idiot
Going up: 49ers
Comment: I forgot about the Alex Smith factor.
Going down: Saints, Patriots, Steelers
Comment: Considering that they've got a combined 18-7 record and all are likely headed for the playoffs, I'm going to take a mulligan here.
Coach of the year: AFC, Marvin Lewis; NFC, Mike Singletary
Comment: Well, at least they'll think kindly of me when they're in the unemployment line in January.
Defensive player of the year: NFC: Bears DE Julius Peppers.
Comment: The Bears' run defense is much improved thanks to Peppers. But they brought him in to sack quarterbacks, and he's got just two in the first eight games. Take heart, though, Julius. The Eagles will be coming to town in a couple of weeks.
Breakout year: Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer
Comment: Like most players on the Cowboys' defense, Spencer decided to take the year off and focus on becoming a "Dancing With The Stars" contestant.
