High & Inside: Ready for the Pack

MEMBERS OF THE Daily News Eagles Fan Forum weigh in after the loss to Dallas: Well, the season is over. It was a ho-hum game, but it was a chance for some of the regulars to rest and nurse their injuries. Let's hope the coaching staff can come up with some ideas to protect Michael Vick against the Packers. I am optimistic for the playoffs and think the Eagles can go far.

What we learned - our second- and third-teamers are one point worse than the Cowboys' first-teamers. It was played partially in an annoying rain and was akin to the third preseason game. We had our bye, time to payback the Pack.

- John Braithwaite, Villanova

Never has a game meant so little to so many. It was an odd amalgam of a preseason game and episodes of a canceled TV series being burned-off by a network. While the JV defense had its moments, when you see all the turnovers, missed tackles, bad play calls and poor execution, you have to wonder if this what the Eagles would have looked like if Kevin Kolb kept his starting job? Even though the game may have been irrelevant, a loss is a loss. And two losses heading into the playoffs is never a good sign.

- Mike Breggar, Cherry Hil

The Eagles' backups played a good game, especially Chad Hall, I think he has a future on this team. It felt like watching a preseason game, though, and I cannot believe I am saying that about an Eagles-Cowboys game. I think we will beat Green Bay in a really close game next week.

No, Eagles fans: That wasn't the movie "The Replacements" on your television screens. It might as well have been, though, considering the number of second-string players who saw action . . . With Green Bay coming into town on wild-card weekend, the Eagles' starters will have to play far better than their understudies did yesterday, or else the season will be a box-office disaster.
