Eagles' DeSean Jackson: 'Everything will work out'

DeSean Jackson told Eagles fans he missed them during his appearance last night on the NFL Network's "Total Access" show.

"Don't get too worried" about the lockout, Jackson counseled. "Hopefully, a plan will be put together real soon, in a hurry, for us to be back at work . . . the best I can say right now is, I'm definitely missing my Philadelphia Eagles fans, not being in Philadelphia and not doing the offseason workouts and things like that. I just want to say, Eagles fans, we'll be back to work real soon, in a hurry, hopefully. Everything will work out, in my eyes; I think so."

Jackson said he hopes the labor impasse doesn't linger into the season.

"I'm ready to get back to work. I know my teammates, I know the rest of the guys in the NFL are," Jackson said. "This is important to us. This is our livelihood, this is what we do, this is what pays our bills, and it's only fair to let us get back out there and to agree to something, so we can just keep getting better, and progressing as athletes."

Asked whether top prospects should boycott the draft in solidarity with the players' association, Jackson said: "The biggest advice I think I would give them is, that's an experience you only get one time. Don't let that experience go by."

Jackson expressed excitement about "this 2012 season coming up," but that seemed to be a slip of the tongue, not a hint that he thinks the 2011 season will be canceled.

Asked if he thinks he has exceeded expectations in his three NFL seasons, Jackson, 24, said "not necessarily - the world probably has yet to see the best of DeSean Jackson . . . I just see myself getting smarter and more intelligent, just getting more comfortable every year."

Jackson narrated a series of clips representing his top 10 NFL plays. Not surprisingly, the game-winning, 65-yard "walkoff" punt return last Dec. 19 at the Giants was No. 1.

The Eagles announced that their annual draft party, set for 6:30 p.m. April 28 at Lincoln Financial Field, sold out all 6,500 tickets in 4 hours yesterday, a tribute to the ardor of Eagles fans, even in the midst of the lockout. This is the sixth successive year the event has sold out.
