Blocked kick lets Giants outlast Cowboys, 37-34

ARLINGTON, Texas - Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a 47-yard field-goal attempt by rookie Dan Bailey to let the New York Giants survive, 37-34, against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a 47-yard field-goal attempt by rookie Dan Bailey to let the New York Giants survive, 37-34, against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

Dallas had appeared to tie the game with a successful 47-yarder as time expired, but New York had called a timeout.

The move worked, preserving a lead Eli Manning had created in the final minute, ending New York's four-game losing streak. The Giants scored two touchdowns in the final 3 minutes, 14 seconds in a showdown for first place in the NFC East.

The Giants (7-6) and Cowboys are tied atop the division, but this victory gives New York the inside track. The teams will meet again in the season finale, on New Year's Day at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Dallas lost its second straight.

Brandon Jacobs had scored from the 1 to give the Giants a 35-34 lead with 46 seconds left and D.J. Ware added a two-point conversion run.
