YOU WOULD think a guy like Dan Marino, who was sacked 270 times in his NFL career, would know a little something about protection.

And yet, here comes a New York Post exclusive that cites sources as saying the former Dolphins quarterback - who is married with six children - had a child with a co-worker at CBS Sports and then paid her millions to keep quiet about it.

According to the report, Marino and Donna Savattere, then a production assistant with the network, had a daughter Chloe, now 7 years old.

Coincidentally, Marino will be on the Super Bowl pregame show on Sunday, which will be televised by CBS.

The Post reported that it had obtained the following statement from Marino, who has been married for 28 years:

"This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved. My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together. And we continue to be a strong and loving family."

Marino, 51, played his entire 17-year career with the Dolphins, was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2005, the same year he fathered his love child.

Super

You gotta love Rob Gronkowski.

On Thursday, the New England Patriots tight end - in New Orleans for the Super Bowl - saw a little kid selling lemonade.

Big Gronk gave him $100. And didn't ask for change.

Not so super

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks may be a yard short of a first down.

While talking about the Ravens receiving corps he confused Torrey Smith with Joe Torre.

"They have good receivers," he said during an interview in New Orleans. "They have a good deep threat with Joe Torre, matter of fact he's from around my way, shout out to Joe Torre," Brooks said. "Is that his name? Joe Torre?"

No Ahmad, it's not.
