Here is what insiders saw at Eagles camp:

Bow? Wow!

Chip Kelly may not be a real king, but the Eagles coach got the royal treatment from running back LeSean McCoy on Monday.

It came during a special-teams drill as McCoy and Kelly were exchanging pleasantries while McCoy fielded kickoffs.

As if to show Kelly that he need not be concerned about him fielding the kicks adroitly, McCoy, after handling one kick smoothly, turned to Kelly and bowed.

At least he didn't curtsey.

Tackling dummies

The Eagles started Monday's practice with a tackling drill. It was one-on-one, with an offensive player meeting a defensive player for a collision. They were not tackling to the ground, just wrapping up.

And though the Eagles did not practice that drill in the week leading up to Friday's preseason loss to the Patriots, defensive coordinator Bill Davis said it was planned for Monday and not a reaction to defensive miscues against the Pats.

"If we made every tackle [on Friday], we were still going to do these tackle drills," Davis said.

For the record, the Eagles did not make every tackle on Friday. In fact, they might want to add a few tackling drills for every practice until the Sept. 9 opener against the Redskins.

Say what?

Give yourself a pat on the back if you can translate Kelly's response to a question about not stopping a running play on Friday against the Patriots.

"We didn't get gapped out, and the ball split and got to the third level without anybody getting a hand on it."

The ball split?
