Linebacker Phillip Hunt underwent surgery to repair a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the Eagles said Thursday.

Hunt became the fourth Eagles player to suffer an ACL injury in the last three weeks, joining wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, receiver Arrelious Benn, and linebacker Jason Phillips. Maclin, Benn, and Phillips have been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Hunt, 27, is likely done for the season as well.

The Eagles said Hunt injured his knee after he left the preseason opener against New England last Friday night at Lincoln Financial Field. The team was off Saturday, but Hunt did not practice the next three days. He watched practice as the Eagles continued evaluating his knee.

The three previous ACL injuries occurred on the same practice field at the NovaCare Complex.

Hunt was on the bubble to make the 53-man roster. He was being asked to learn a new position after playing defensive end in his first two years in the NFL.
