NFL promotes former Eagle Vincent

Former Eagles cornerback Troy Vincent was named the NFL's executive vice president of football operations, a major promotion for the 43-year-old Pennsbury High School alumnus.

In his new role, Vincent will oversee all of the league's football operations. Those include officiating, on-field discipline, and player personnel, among other areas. He will also be a nonvoting member of the league's competition committee.

"We will emphasize clarity, consistency, and credibility to ensure the highest standards and best practices for our teams and fans," Vincent said in a statement. "We will work closely with all stakeholders to preserve, innovate, and develop the game."

Vincent replaces Ray Anderson, who became the athletic director at Arizona State. Vincent was previously the head of the NFL's player engagement program, which helps players move through all phases of life.

Vincent was the president of the NFL Players Association during his playing career, and helped create a program for players at Penn's Wharton School.

"Troy Vincent brings a uniquely well-rounded perspective to this leadership position," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "He knows the game inside out from the locker room to the board room."

A five-time Pro Bowler and three-time all-pro, Vincent was selected to the Eagles' 75th-anniversary team. He was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 2012.
