Running back Ryan Mathews left the Eagles' 20-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday with a concussion.

Mathews' last play was a rush for no gain in the third quarter. He finished with eight carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. He also had two catches for 22 yards.

Mathews and quarterback Sam Bradford were the two players injured in the loss. Wide receiver Jordan Matthews needed attention from the trainers in the fourth quarter, but he only had the wind knocked out of him.

Peters sits out again

Left tackle Jason Peters missed his second consecutive game with a back injury that is affecting his quadriceps. Peters tried warming up before the game, but coach Chip Kelly said he wasn't close to playing.

Lane Johnson started at left tackle in Peters' place for the second straight week. Dennis Kelly started at right tackle.

Back in action

Wide receiver Nelson Agholor and linebacker DeMeco Ryans returned to the lineup after missing time because of injuries.

Agholor, who had an ankle injury, played for the first time since Oct. 11. He did not start, but he caught three passes for 32 yards. He was targeted four times.

Ryans missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but he was back in the starting lineup Sunday. Ryans was credited with three tackles.

Inactive players

In addition to Peters, the Eagles' inactive players were quarterback Thad Lewis, safety Jerome Couplin, running back Kenjon Barner, linebacker Emmanuel Acho, offensive lineman Josh Andrews, and defensive end Brandon Bair.

Andrews (concussion) and Couplin (shoulder) were declared out before the game. The other players were healthy scratches. Acho was signed Monday after Jordan Hicks went on injured reserve. Julian Vandervelde, who rejoined the team late in the week, was the backup center.

Extra points

Tight end Brent Celek had four catches for 134 yards. It was his eighth career 100-yard game. His 33.5 yards per reception were the most by an NFL tight end with at least four catches since 1984. . . . Defensive lineman Fletcher Cox notched a sack and tied his career high with 51/2 for the season. . . . Wide receiver Miles Austin did not record a catch even though he was targeted four times. He was the intended target on Mark Sanchez's interception in the end zone, and he also could not keep his feet in bounds on a potential touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
