Mathews out; Peters, Thornton questionable

Ryan Mathews will miss a second straight game and the status of Jason Peters and Cedric Thornton is still unclear as the Eagles travel to New England for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Ryan Mathews will miss a second straight game and the status of Jason Peters and Cedric Thornton is still unclear as the Eagles travel to New England for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Mathews was ruled out on Friday after not practicing this week. He suffered a concussion on Nov. 15 against Miami. The Eagles rushed for just 68 yards without Mathews on Thanksgiving against Detroit.

Peters, who is dealing with back and ankle injuries, was a full participant at practice each day this week. If the left tackle is unable to go, the Eagles could shuffle their offensive line and move Lane Johnson from right tackle as they did earlier in the season when Peters was out.

Thornton was a full participant at Friday's practice after not practicing on Wednesday and being limited on Thursday. If his ankle injury keeps him out of Sunday's game, the Eagles would likely plug in Vinny Curry and use Taylor Hart in an expanded role.
