Report: Chiefs to take Eric Fisher with No. 1 overall pick

According to Charean Williams, writer from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel has been informed by the Chiefs that Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher will be their first pick in tonight's NFL Draft.

UPDATE (4:15 p.m.) - According to Charean Williams, writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel has been informed by the Chiefs that Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher will be their first pick in tonight's NFL Draft.

From earlier:

For weeks now, Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel has been projected as the most likely No. 1 pick in this year's NFL draft.

But with just hours to go before the event kicks off, rumors are flying that the team which holds that top selection - Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs - could go a different way.

ProFootballTalk reports that the Chiefs are now seriously considering drafting a different offensive tackle: Eric Fisher. The Central Michigan product had been linked with the Eagles because of Joeckel's status as the top prospect.

As just one of many examples, in Philly.com's most recent mock draft, all of the Inquirer and Daily News' beat writers predicted that the Eagles would get Fisher.

Now the Eagles' old coach could snatch Fisher from them. Then again, if that happens, it's possible that either Joeckel or top defensive prospect (and Philadelphia native) Sharrif Floyd could fall into the Eagles' lap.
