Eagles training camp 2013: Today's practice notes

The Eagles were back at work today, albeit in shells and shorts (no pads, no hitting). Let's get right to the notes...

• DeSean Jackson roasted Colt Anderson and Kurt Coleman deep. Jackson has beaten somebody deep seemingly every day of camp. After Coleman was beaten, somewhere in California Nnamdi Asomugha's arm involuntarily rose and pointed East.

• A few weeks ago, a couple of Eagles rookies, Bennie Logan and Joe Kruger, were featured in an article here about batted passed. Today, another rookie, David King, deflected a pass at the line, which was picked off by Earl Wolff. Batted passes lead to great things for the defense. At a minimum, it's going to be an incomplete pass, with the ultimate reward being a turnover. Over the last two years, the Eagles have had just 15 batted passes:

That needs to improve.

• Greg Salas had a ball pop out of his hands on a high pass, David Sims failed to bring in what should have been a pick, and Salas was able to make the grab just before the ball hit the ground. Incredible concentration by Salas. It will be a crime against nature if Salas doesn't make the team.

• Clay Harbor had a strong game against the Pats on Friday. That did not carry over to today. Three drops, by my count.

• Brent Celek's awful training camp continues. Another drop today. Celek leads the team by a mile in drops throughout camp.

• Ifeanyi Momah gets no separation from Marsh on a deep ball. If you're a cornerback trying to make the team, try to line up against Momah.

• One player who seems like he should be a standout in shells and shorts is TE Derek Carrier. Carrier had a ridiculous pro day in 2012. Since 1999, 251 tight ends have competed at the Combine. Carrier was better than almost all of them in a number of drills:

Carrier has yet to stand out.

• Oh, and Cary Williams said some stuff after practice.
