Mayock's take: Cornerbacks

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock, a Newtown Square resident, will break down each position in advance of the draft for Daily News readers. Here is Part 11 with his take on the cornerbacks:

BEST

Morris Claiborne, LSU

5-11 1/8, 188

Arm: 33 ¼

40-yard dash: 4.50

225-bench: NA

Projected Rd.: 1 (picks 3-6)

Mayock: ``I wasn't at his Pro Day, but I talked to five teams that were and they all said it was the best cornerback workout they've ever seen. He's got size. He's got weight. He tackles. He can play press (coverage). He can play off. He's a special talent who could go as early as 3 and won't last beyond 6.''

RISER

Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina

6-0 ½, 190

Arm: 31

40-yard dash: 4.40

225-bench: 15

Projected Rd.: 1 (picks 10-15)

Mayock: ``I probably have him rated higher than most people. He started 40 consecutive games in the SEC. He's a third-year junior who never missed a start. Six-foot corners with long arms that can run a 4.4 are rare. I think a lot of people thought he was going to be a second-round pick when he came out. At this point, though, I think he's a lock for the top 15.''

SLEEPER

Coty Sensabaugh, Clemson

5-11 ¼, 189

Arm: 31

40-yard dash: 4.42

225-bench: 15

Projected Round: 4

Mayock: ``He only started one year at Clemson, but he can play press. He runs a 4.4. He's kind of a raw, developmental corner. There wasn't a lot of awareness of him coming into last season because he wasn't a starter. There's been a little bit of late buzz about the guy. I don't think he gets out of the fourth round. But three months ago, nobody literally knew who he was.''
