Nick Foles out with broken hand, Michael Vick expected to start at QB

Nick Foles has a hairline fracture in his right hand and will not play Sunday against the New York Giants, Andy Reid announced Monday. Michael Vick is expected to start in Foles' place.

"There's a pretty good chance Michael will be the starter," Reid said. "That's the direction I'm going, as we speak right now."

Foles suffered an injury right before halftime and played the entire second half with the injury. It was believed to be a contusion before he underwent an MRI on Monday.

"His hand was sore, but at the same time, he played well that second half," Reid said. "That could have affected him. I know at one point, he had a tough time squeezing the ball. ...When we came out [in the second half], he warmed up and felt like he had more control. But I'm sure that affected him. He's a pretty tough kid. Never said a word about it, and I'm sure he wouldn't say anything to [reporters], just like he wouldn't say anything to me. But he pushed himself through it."

Vick was the No. 3 quarterback last week. Vick was rusty two weeks ago, but Reid said he looked better last week.

"He deserves the opportunity to play," Reid said. "He's excited about it. I had the chance to talk to him this morning. He'll be ready to go."
