Reid not only coach canned

Andy Reid headlines a handful of coaches fired Monday.

The Eagles' Andy Reid wasn't the only head coach relieved of his duties on Monday, although he was the longest-tenured.  Teams wasted little time in making moves, as less than a full day after the regular season came to a close several coaches found themselves out of work.

Joining Andy on the unemployment line is Kansas City Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel, who was fired after one full season as head coach, which included a franchise low two wins, and a murder-suicide involving one of the players. The Chiefs however made no move on embattled GM Scott Pioli, who remains with the franchise.

Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert didn't fare as well as Pioli, as both he and head coach Pat Shurmur were fired on Monday following a 5-11 season.  Shurmur went 9-23 in his two seasons with the Browns, who will undergo yet another coaching search this offseason, as the new hire will be their sixth since 1999.

Not surprisingly, the San Diego Chargers followed suit and fired both head coach Norv Turner, and GM A.J. Smith after the team's first losing season since 2003.  Turner, who never quite lived up to expectations after leading the team to the AFC Championship game in his first season, finished out his seven seasons in San Diego with a 55-40 record

The Buffalo Bills also felt it was time for a change as they fired head coach Chan Gailey after three losing seasons.  Gailey finishes his time in Buffalo with a 16-32 record, failing to lead the team to the playoffs in any of his three seasons.

Despite finishing the season with a respectable 10-6 record, the Chicago Bears' Lovie Smith was also fired on Monday, making him the only coach of the crowd to be fired after a winning season.  Smith's seven season run in Chicago, which included a trip to the 2007 Super Bowl, came to an end as the Bears failed to make the playoffs this season.
