The search for special teams help continued Tuesday as the Eagles released Adrian Moten a week after they initially signed the linebacker.

In Moten's place the Eagles signed linebacker Jason Williams, who is in his fourth NFL season. Williams played with Carolina (2010-12) and Dallas (2009-10) and was cut by the Panthers just before the start of this season.

In 28 games with both teams, he recorded 36 tackles on defense and 28 special teams tackles, according to the Eagles press release. Last season, Williams played 14 games in Carolina and led the team with 15 tackles on special teams, along with a forced fumble.

The 6-foot-1, 244-pound Williams was drafted out of Western Illinois by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2009 draft. He played in just five games for the Cowboys before they released him in Nov. 2010.

Moten was added last week after the Eagles waived linebacker Brian Rolle. The team said that it made the move in an attempt to improve their struggling special teams.

Moten played 16 special teams snaps Sunday against the Steelers. The Eagles did not credit him with a special teams tackle and he failed to bring down Chris Rainey when he had a hold of him during the Steeler's third quarter 44-yard kick return.
