Two Touchdowns Worth of Eagles Tidbits

Two Touchdowns Worth of Eagles Tidbits

In honor of Andy Reid's 14 years as head coach, we present 14 tasty tidbits about the Eagles' game Sunday, this season and beyond. In no particular order:

♦ The 2012 Eagles defense intercepted eight passes. The 1965 Eagles intercepted nine passes ... in a single game (Dec. 12, 1965, at Steelers).

♦ On the morning of Nov. 18, the Eagles and Redskins had the same record (3-6).

♦ Andy Reid coached 896 regulation quarters during his Eagles employment. In only two of them, did the opponent score more than the 21 points the Giants put on the board in the first 15 minutes Sunday. Both of those were in the fourth quarter (27, 24).

♦ Jason Avant's reception total has risen every season of his NFL career (7, 23, 32, 41, 51, 52, 53).

♦ The Eagles have the fourth overall draft pick for the sixth time in their history. Their previous five picks in that slot: 1939, QB Davey O'Brien; 1956, LB Bob Pellegrini; 1963, G Ed Budde; 1966, G Randy Beisler; 1984, WR Kenny Jackson.

♦ Eli Manning tied an Eagles' opponent record with five TD passes Sunday. He tied Joe Montana, Craig Morton, Sonny Jurgensen, Sammy Baugh, Frank Filchock and Don Meredith (twice).

♦ Andy Reid was 66-63-1 in the regular season since Christmas Day, 2004. He was 64-30 before that.

♦ Despite a less-than-stellar performance Sunday, Michael Vick retained his two Eagles career passing records: completion percentage (60.1%) and passer rating (87.8)

♦ The 2012 Eagles finished with as many preseason wins (4) as regular season wins (4).

♦ Sunday's loss was the 15th time the Birds have lost by 35 or more points. Three of those have been road games against the Giants.

♦ Eagles were outscored by 75 points (106-31) in the first quarter this season. That is a club record; previous mark was 53 (73-20) in 1942.

♦ Since 1964, Eagles offensive line coach Howard Mudd has been on the NFL sidelines as a player (93) or a coach (592) for 695 of a possible 749 games.

♦ The Eagles and Chiefs each finished with a minus-24 turnover differential. That is tied for the eighth-worst mark since the 1970 merger. The 2000 Chargers' minus-28 is the worst in that timeframe.

♦ And as bad as the Andy Reid era fizzled out at the end, at least he had this: In the time he was the Eagles' coach, the dreadec Cowboys were exactly .500 (112-112).
