What We're Watching: Eagles-Giants II

A look at what we will be watching during Sunday's Eagles-Giants game:

1.  Season of giving. Turnovers were the big story in the first Eagles-Giants game and probably will be again. Giants and Eagles are 1-2 in the NFC in takeaways. Giants also lead the league in giveaways. They had five of them against the Eagles in Week 11. The only thing that kept them in the game was the fact that the Eagles produced just nine points off of those five turnovers.

2. Chaney's big challenge. Rookie middle linebacker Jamar Chaney will have his work cut out for him in his first NFL start. Since being shut down by the Eagles in Week 11, the Giants' ground game has been on fire, averaging 181.7 rushing yards per game in three straight wins. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 219 yards and 8.8 yards per carry Monday night against the Vikings.

3. The Mac & Jack Show. The Giants haven't had much luck neutralizing the Eagles' two dangerous wideouts, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. In the last three games, the two have combined for 27 receptions for 473 yards (17.5 yards per catch) and three touchdowns against against the Giants. Those numbers would be even crazier but for the fact that Maclin missed more than 3 quarters of one of the games last year with a foot injury.

4. The heat on Mike. The Giants' pass rush gave the Eagles' problems in Week 11, sacking Vick three times, forcing two fumbles from him and taking away his ability to roll to the left. The Giants were the only team that's held Vick to less than 7 yards per attempt this season. They have four defensive linemen with at least four sacks and Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck have combined for 18 ½ sacks and 13 forced fumbles.

5. First and 10. The Giants are first in the league in first-down production, averaging 6.62 yards per first-down play. Eagles' run defense has been outstanding on first down, holding opponents to 3.5 yards per carry. But the Giants threw the ball on 15 of 23 first-down plays in the first meeting, completing 12. Still, the Eagles managed to hold them to 5.0 yards per play on first down, well below their season average.
