Green Bay, Wis. — Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey is not playing in Thursday's preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. Right guard Brandon Brooks is also absent with an ankle injury.

Coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday that Jeffery is healthy enough to play and that he will use his discretion when determining if Jeffery would play. Jeffery had a shoulder injury last week, but returned to practice on Sunday. The Eagles have been cautious with how they've handled Jeffery this summer, and Thursday's decision is the latest example.

Brooks injured his ankle on Monday and missed Tuesday's session. Chance Warmack took first-team snaps in Brooks' place and could start in his place.
