Eagles practice without Derek Barnett, Corey Clement, Fletcher Cox, Alshon Jeffery, and Darren Sproles

It does not sound like there's anything to worry about with Cox or Jeffery, but the running back situation hasn't yielded positive signs so far.

The Eagles returned to practice Wednesday with five notable absences: defensive end Derek Barnett (shoulder), running back Corey Clement (quadriceps), defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (ankle), wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (chest), and running back Darren Sproles (hamstring). Tackle Jason Peters was limited with a quadriceps injury.

It does not sound as though there's anything to worry about with Cox or Jeffery, who had extra recovery days and are expected to be ready to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. It's not known whether there's reason to be concerned about Barnett, although he finished Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Sproles has not practiced since injuring his hamstring during a Week 2 practice. Coach Doug Pederson said the running back is "day-to-day," and the team is being careful with the 35-year-old's hamstring.

"I'm expecting for Darren to continue to work and work through his injury," Pederson said before practice. "I just want to make sure that he's 100 percent. We're going to continue to monitor his progress and see where he is at the end of today and move on from there."

Clement has been hobbled for two weeks. He missed the Titans game after playing Week 3. Pederson said the Eagles were being cautious.

The Eagles return to practice on Thursday at 1 p.m.

No news might be bad news for Tim Jernigan

There have been few updates on defensive tackle Tim Jernigan since he underwent back surgery during the offseason, and Pederson would not go into detail on Jernigan's recovery or say whether Jernigan will play this season.

Jernigan is on the non-football injury list, and the Eagles cannot activate him until after Week 6. He does not attend practices. Pederson said Jernigan is "making progress," but did not comment on plans to play Jernigan this season.

"I don't want to put a cap on him," Pederson said. "Don't want to limit him in any way, and any other expectation than just him getting better and healthy at this time."
